Keeping your computer data safe
by Barbara Pearn - Friday, October 05, 2018
With all the news lately about municipal websites being held for ransom and credit card fraud, we have to be more vigilant in protecting ourselves.
I decided to post my recommendations to protect your computer from malware and ransomware. We have had our own experiences with credit card fraud. I asked around and this software was highly recommended. My experience with it has been a positive one.
We installed this software after having issues with credit card fraud as was mentioned above on our computers. It's called Malwarebytes which is available for Mac or PC. There is a free version.
We ran the Malwarebytes, which scans computers for malicious software and the result was that there was malware on both our computers. Scanning doesn't take very long. Once the scan was over we simply deleted the malicious software and have not had a problem since.
According to their website the software protects against malware and ransomware and other dangerous threats.
The premium version protects your computer in real time.
I suggest that you keep the software updated and this will go a long way in protecting you and your computer.
